Zero Day HQ

Zero Day purchased its original headquarters from the Lansing Public Schools.  As an obsolete but historic building, which was costly to protect, it was a potential nuisance property in a struggling neighborhood adjacent to Michigan’s State Capital.

More than $2M was spent on Veteran training and programming in the process of preparing the building for future use while creating opportunities for more than 100 Veterans from 4 states. Veterans obtained licenses in hazardous material abatement, builders licenses, heavy equipment, and a wide variety of nationally credentialed certifications while being paid for on the job learning and apprenticeships. Word of mouth and social media recruiting by the first cohort quickly became national outreach.  In this supportive employment model, assessments determined individualized development plans backed by mentoring, career coaching, financial aid, benefits and resource navigation, Veteran behavioral health experts and a network of support from within the community.

Prepped for its future, in 2015 the building was given to a local non-profit returning its purpose to serving children as a community center, with a playground, community garden, and community orchard. We are forever grateful for the collaboration and support from members of the community, especially HTNB, Biggby, and Team Depot and for our customers Cinnaire, Ingham County Land Bank, Michigan DNR, and HCD. Every dollar spent in this endeavor was earned in the delivery of our revitalization services being done throughout Michigan.

Zero Day’s evolution began with this development.  In excess of 100 Veterans developed new skills in old school ways.  Countless safety hazards were remedied, local investment continued, as did recruitment from all walks of life, each branch of service, from coast to coast.
